Not So Fast, Bud...
Shear has let up enough off the coast of Mexico to allow Tropical Depression 2-E to strengthen, with its highest winds now at 35 mph. It is now predicted to continue strengthening slightly, with maximum winds of 40 mph by the time it makes landfall just over 12 hours from now. This would put the winds just above the 39 mph threshold needed for a depression to become a named tropical storm. We may be looking at Bud here after all...
