2006 Hurricane Season looking a lot like 2005 so far
2005 started out mid-June with Tropical Storm Arlene, which reached 70 mph winds and hit the Gulf Coast. This year we had Alberto at about the same strength and timing. Then a depression blew up just off the coast of Mexico on June 28th, and became Tropical Storm Bret for only a few hours before crashing into the coast. This year, one day earlier, we've got a similar weak storm, but off of the Carolina Coast this time. This tropical disturbance is likely to become a depression, and could even become a 40-mph Bret-like Beryl before landfall.
