Emilia Loses Her Punch / Daniel's Punch will be Hawaiian

Emilia is more or less falling apart as she moves northwest paralleling the Mexican coast. At one time she looked like a good candidate to become a hurricane, but the problem is some cool and drier air that she's been taking in on the northwestern side. As it is, she'll remain a tropical storm for a little while before she hits the really cold waters off of the mid-to-north section of Baja California.

Meanwhile, Hurricane Daniel has held together (although with 75 mph winds currently, he's only barely still a hurricane) long enough to cross 140 degrees W longitude. This means he ceases to be a Eastern Pacific Hurricane, and has become a Central Pacific Hurricane. The only real impact of this is that monitoring of Daniel has been handed off from the National Hurricane Center to the Central Pacific Hurricane Center. They've put together the most recent projection which shows soon-to-be Tropical Storm Daniel going smack dab across the Big Island of Hawaii. Daniel should be approaching the islands by the end of the week, and by then we should have a better idea of what the landfall will look like, intensity and track-wise.
